Westward Developments Devon Women's League

The Westward Developments Devon Women’s League Cup finalists were decided at the weekend, with Plymouth Argyle Res achieving their first appearance in a final after defeating Dawlish Town 4-0. Their opponents will be Central FC, who beat Exeter University 4-2. Central will be finalists for the second time in three years, having been defeated by Plymouth Oak Villa in 2002.

The Premier Division was restricted to two matches, involving the four bottom teams. Basement side Galmpton United were defeated 3-0 at Totnes Town, who remain two places above them in the League. North Molton played Exeter Rangers for the second week running, and again took all three points, this time in a 2-1 win. The victory guarantees the North Devon team a final position of at least sixth, their current placing.

The top two teams in Division One both enjoyed healthy wins against lowlier opposition. Leaders Exeter City Res put seven past Torridgeside without reply, while Georgeham & Croyde defeated Plymouth University 12-0. Georgeham’s Lizzie Baker grabbed a hat-trick, but Jodie Dixon scored an impressive eight, taking her personal total in the last three games to thirteen. Plymouth Oak Villa Res, with two more games to play, moved up to fourth, three points behind Torquay, who have completed their season. Oak Villa’s 8-0 victory against Rolle Rockets featured two goals from Philippa Davey and a double hat-trick from Charlotte Hobbs.
