Cornish hotshots

Seven players from Cornish clubs featured in the final top goal scorers charts for the South West League in 2003-4.

Penzance took 5th, 6th & 7th place in the Premier Division, with Tracey Burley leading on 14 league & cup goals, with Holly Sandow and Katie Barker reaching a dozen each.

Newquay claimed the top three spots in Division 1 South; Carla Ward scored 35 goals, with Dawna Dennett 33 and Jane Hurley 28. Annie Richards was the fourth Newquay player listed, having hit 10 goals during their league treble.

Meanwhile, the South West Premier for 2004-5 will see the division extended to 11 clubs. Newquay come up, together with Plymouth Oak Villa and Team Bath, whilst both Exeter City and Yeovil Town come down. Keynsham Town were promoted from the top flight but Cardiff City Reserves dropped out. Penzance and Newquay will meet in league competition for the first time, with both encounters likely to be midweek.
