Dewsbury Rangers Under 14 Girls at Tingley Gala.

The first game saw Rangers come up against Prospect. Rangers dominated the game but were unable to put away their chances for a goal-less result. Up next were Hemsworth as Rangers again had the better of the game but a last second strike saw Hemsworth home 1-0. The defensive performances of Emily Spink and Charlie Ramsden were becoming a feature of the Dewsbury side's play as keeper Laura Smith blocked well when half chances occurred. Natasha Ramsden, Danielle Blakeley, Mel Glover and Maddi Gavaghan all rotated well from the subs bench as they slotted into the player-to-player marking role.

Old rivals Howden Clough gave as good as they got but despite hitting the post Rangers still sought their first victory as another 0 - 0 was chalked up. This victory came in the following match against a big Bramley team. Rosie Mason slotted home the first after captain Elissa Hill set up the position. Amy Dickinson crashed home the second to ensure the points were Rangers. Another stalemate ensued, this time with favourites Tingley, but Rangers had done enough to progress to the semi-finals.

This brought them up against Tingley again, and again neither side could break the deadlock, even after extra time. Penalties were taken as Mason slotted home the first sudden death penalty to see Rangers through to their first ever final. Howden Clough in the final saw both teams unwilling to concede, as penalties again were to decide the fate of the trophy. After a heart- stopping 9 penalties each, it was Clough who came out victorious. Rangers can be proud of their efforts as they completed their most successful tournament with heads held high.
