LEICESTER CITY LADIES RESERVES v Ilkeston Town Reserves

City started the game full of confidence on the back of two good wins and were soon in control of the game, again playing some great football. City went into a deserved lead after 10 minutes with a neat finish from Emily Painter. 3 minutes later it was 2-0 when Katy Rudkin turned well in the box and drove a low shot into the bottom corner.

Ilkeston tried to get back into the game but City defended well with Charlotte Horobin marshalling the defence in the sweeper role. After 25 minutes it was 3-0 with another great strike from Clare Tweed and Leicester were now in dominating form. Just before half time Clare Tweed scored her 2nd goal of the game rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home.

Half Time

Leicester 4 Ilkeston 0The 2nd half started in a similar pattern and after 50 minutes it was 5-0 when Clare Tweed completed her third successive hat-trick wit a well-taken shot. 5 Minutes later it was six with a great strike from the edge of the box from Helen Rudkin. After 58 minutes it was 7 with a neat finish from Lucy Verity. To their credit Ilkeston kept on going forward but did not look like breaking through the Leicester defence. After 70 minutes Leicester again scored with a good finish from Helen Newbury. Leicester then seemed to take the foot off the pedal and after 78 minutes allowed Ilkeston a consolation goal when City were caught in possession and Ilkeston broke quickly and scored with a good finish into the top right corner.

This seemed to wake Leicester up again and in the last 10 minutes hit Ilkeston with some more good attacking play and made the score 9-1 in the 85th minute with Clare Tweed getting her fourth goal of the game. This was quickly followed by another 2 goals from Andy Coupland to make the final score 11-1. This was another solid performance from the reserves with some great football been played and the team spirit is excellent and they all seem to be enjoying their football.
