Kimberley Stadium return, friendly match reports and coming up.
Kimberley Stadium return
Saltash United's upcoming home fixture against Plymouth Argyle Reserves is to be the first ladies game at Kimberley Stadium for several years, since the old Saltash team moved to become Plymouth Argyle Ladies. The game is on Thursday 18th August at 7.30pm.

August 11th

Exeter Central 7-5 Newquay Reserves
Newquay Reserves went down 7-5 away to Exeter Central in a Wednesday friendly and will now host the same opponents on August 28th. But first they go to Dawlish Town on Monday August 22nd.

August 14th Friendlies

Liskeard Athletic 2-6 Plymouth Argyle
Plymouth Argyle took the lead early on but Liskeard's Tamsyn Lawrie soon equalised with a superb shot from outside the box. Argyle's superiority came through and they lead by 3-1 at half time. At 4-1, Corinne Potts got a good goal for the hosts but Argyle added two more late on to complete the scoring. Liskeard keeper, Lauren Horner pulled off a series of fine saves in the second half to keep the score respectable.
Marazion 3-4 Hayle
A competitive friendly ended with a first win for Hayle against Marazion. After a number of early missed chances Marazion were surprised by two goals as a long distance strike and penalty gave Hayle the lead. Having then to chase the game, Marazion left themselves open to Hayle attacks, but scored just before half time through a Carly Jacka free kick.

With both sets of players showing excellent commitment the second half began like the first, and Hayle extended their lead with another quick breakout from defence. However, Marazion came back strongly with goals from Kirsty Olds, her first for the club, and Jo Barker with a well taken goal following a Linda Vandenberg through ball. With both teams gaining much needed pre-season match practise, Hayle then won the game through some fine individual control and good finishing. In the end, both teams were very satisfied with the performances and now look forward to the season ahead.
Penzance 6-0 Roborough
Penzance were in control from the start in their 6-0 friendly victory against Devon League Roborough, who rarely troubled Emma Robinson in the home goal. Katy Barker missed an open goal just seconds in, followed by a screamer against the woodwork, Natasha Mills had a goalbound shot blocked, Becky Lawrence hit the bar from distance and Dawn Bateman went close from a free-kick - all in the first ten minutes. Barker did then tuck away the opener and head on for Mills to double the score after 12 minutes. A superb through-ball from Claire Boyd brought a second for Mills, who also hit the post before completing her hat-trick from a Lauren Hosking pass on 26 minutes. It was 5-0 by half-time, as Julie Lawrence rifled home a loose ball.

After the break, a good effort from Hosking forced a corner, before Julie Lawrence and Leanne Gilbert combined well to set up a goal for Rachel Bennett. She was denied a second by the post and also when her header was well saved. Penzance failed to make the most of further chances and added no goals in the last 35 minutes. The Magpies wore their new shirts for the first time, sponsored by Winchester Growers, whose manager Mike McCann was present at the game.

St Blazey 1-0 Saltash Utd
This game was played in a great spirit by both teams. St Blazey were back to their old ways of playing, Saltash took a while to find the pace of the game but soon began to trouble the home defence. St Blazey took the lead on 20 minutes, through Anna Wherry, whose persistance gave her the chance to finish with a great shot. Saltash regrouped and a shot from Sam Drewery hit the post and a Mandy Cox strike was ruled out for off-side. Saltash defense tightened up considerably and kept the home strikers to long range efforts, while at the other end, Stacey Dickenson pulled off several fine saves.

As the second-half progressed, Saltash came more into the game and went close on a few occasions, Jo Bushen hitting the post. But a great display kept the home side in front, with keeper Stacey Dickenson chosen by the visitors as player of the match.
Stoke Climsland 4-0 St.Breward
Stoke Climsland's new goalkeeper, Becky Picken, kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 friendly win over St.Breward. The goals were shared between Danielle Thomas, Marie Wilson, Kate Bourne and Nat Rider, with Marie Wilson and Kerry Edwards the joint players of the match.
