Donny visit revitalised Blues

The Official Newsletter of Everton Ladies F.C.
Volume 2 – Issue 10 (21st November 2003)

Donny visit revitalised Blues

It has been about three years since Everton last claimed three points over Doncaster Rovers Belles. However, the Blues enter Sunday’s game on the back of three victories. They have climbed to the dizzy heights of third in the National Division after their worthy 2-0 win over Leeds United last week, and it was their second consecutive clean sheet.

Full back Jeanette Hill is now back training after an enforced long-term injury lay-off. She will make her comeback in the reserves’ home clash with Sunderland. Hill’s return will provide a defensive dilemma to first team coach Mo Marley. The backline has looked steady and settled over the past four weeks, and Lindsay Johnson is continuing to get stronger in her central defensive role. Amy Kane is part way through her 35 day suspension, and that could provide Chantelle Parry with another chance to impress on the left side of midfield. Her goal last week was a stunning strike and she has proved she is capable of the rigours of top flight football.

Kim Holden will be in the squad, after missing out on making her debut last week.

*Please note that kick-off on Sunday is at 1.30pm once again, and not the usual time of 12.30pm, at Marine AFC.

Other Club News

Although plans are at an early stage, Everton Football Club are about to establish a girl’s disabled section. Trials will be held at Cardinal Heenan Sports College in West Derby in January 2004. Nomination forms and application packs will be distributed to disabled female performers at disability football taster days and disability football tournaments that are taking place in Liverpool.

It is hoped that following on from a four week trial period, the players will be called together for a weekly coaching programme, and will play against other teams where possible. Everton Ladies Under 12’s coach Albi Doran will be part of the coaching staff.
