Match reports and fixtures for Cornwall Womens Teams.

South West Counties Championship

Cornwall 0-6 Devon
Cornwall's South West Counties Championship campaign was over almost before it had begun, their crushing 6-0 defeat at Newquay giving Devon the group.

Cornwall still have a trip to Dorset in February, which they must win to avoid finishing bottom. A shocking way to meet their first defeat ever, the performance lacked heart and young St. Austell goalkeeper Tracey Johns was at fault for three goals. Devon were 5-0 up at half-time, having also scored direct from a free-kick and a penalty, the latter after Newquay's Jess Longworth conceded the spot-kick.

A half time rollicking brought about a much better second-half showing, with Jo Timmins (Bude Town) now in goal. But Devon keeper Maxine Coupe was too strong to be beaten and the visitors grabbed a sixth goal late on. Manager Ronni Barr was at a loss to explain where such a poor performance came from after the great strides forward last season.

South West League Premier Division Cup Southern Section

Buckfastleigh Rangers P-P Penzance
Penzance's Premier Division Cup tie at Buckfastleigh was rained off, with both teams' grounds unplayable. After a run of defeats, Penzance will be hoping to turn things around in the New Year, beginning with a home game against Cardiff City Reserves on January 4th.

Division 1 South

Newquay 6-2 Ashdown Rovers
Newquay continued on their promotion quest with a 6-2 victory over Ashdown Rovers to go into the break top of the table. Newquay are next in action on January 4th, with a crucial six-pointer at home to Plymouth Oak Villa.

Cornwall League Division 1

Bude Town P-P Camelford (waterlogged pitch)
Launceston 4-0 Penryn
Launceston ended the year in fine style, with a 4-0 victory over Penryn. Gill Haines was again on target with a brace, other goals coming from Pippa Kempthorne and Ria Tilley.

Launceston play next on January 4th, at home to Newquay Reserves.
Marazion 0-2 Newquay Res
Marazion were thwarted eight times by the woodwork as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Newquay Reserves.
Mullion 3-3 St. Austell
Mullion's Danielle Lambrick netted an 85th minute equaliser to claim a share of the points in a 3-3 draw with St. Austell. The visitors had taken a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes despite playing uphill and against the wind. Kim Tyler opened the scoring on six minutes. Emily Morden then doubled the advantage before Lou Collings headed a spectacular own-goal from a Becky Hall free kick to bring Mullion back into the game.

The hosts levelled before the break when Danielle Lambrick ran onto a Gus Holyer pass and calmly cut inside from to hit a powerful shot into the net. Although Ayeisha Dyer restored the Saints lead from 25 yards, they could not hold out for a win, Lambrick turning home Emma Hurworth's wonderful cross.

St. Austell host Bude Town in their next match on January 4th and Mullion are looking for a home friendly match the same day, to blow the Christmas cobwebs away.

Division 2 West

Porthleven 7-0 Kerrier Terriers
Kerrier Terriers could only field eight players at Porthleven, due to illness and holidays but did a good job in restricting the hosts to a 7-0 score line. Terriers were very pleased with their efforts at containment and also the many saved made by goalkeeper Helen Lobb.

The margin of victory was enough to send Porthleven top of Division 2 West for Christmas, but second-placed Hayle have two games in hand. Jenny Hickling hit a hat trick, Sam Yeo a brace and there was one for Hannah Kernow, plus an own-goal by Emma Robinson. But Port's display was so far short of what their manager expected that they were kept out after the game for 20 minutes of running.
St. Just P-P Hayle (waterlogged pitch)
Holmans P-P Madron (waterlogged pitch)

Division 2 East

Goonhavern 5-0 Roche
L.A. Reeks was on target three times as Goonhavern took all three points against Roche in very windy conditions. Fallon Bull also bagged a brace in the 5-0 victory.
Stoke Climsland 0-0 St. Columb Minor
Stoke Climsland opted for a determined defensive attitude against leaders St. Columb Minor and it paid off as they held out for a goalless draw. The hosts rarely made it over the halfway line against Minor, whose Player of the Match was Kerry Whitehead.
Storm 5-8 St. Breward
St. Breward were on the right end of an extraordinary score line as they won 8-5 at Storm. Braces by Wendy Birkbeck and Tamsin Keat were added to by Sarah Rayson and Emma Simmons, with own goals completing the visitors tally.
Wadebridge Town P-P Liskeard. (waterlogged pitch)
