Carrickfergus International Ladies Football Festival
The Carrickfergus International Ladies Football Festival has grown demonstrably in popularity over the past number of years attracting American, European and UK teams to the festival. It is with great pleasure that we are now contacting you to inform you of the 2009 Festival which will be taking place from Tuesday 28th July to Saturday 1st August 2009 and to offer your team the opportunity to compete in this innovative festival of female football.
The festival itself offers a range of benefits to all players in that the festival tournament guarantees skilful and hard fought matches and top quality players with a strong competitive drive and the will to win. Participation at the festival will require five nights accommodation and we are pleased to offer one night complimentary accommodation to all teams. Accommodation starts from £80 B&B per twin room (£40 pps)*
The festival, now in its 7th year will consist of the following elements: An 8 team senior ladies competition for the Elite Cup. Past winners include: Boavista from Portugal, Liverpool Ladies, USA team Athletes in Action and Irish Universities. Matches will take place from Thursday 30th July to the finals on Saturday 1st August 2009.
A 12 team under 16 girls residential coaching programme and festival open to players born on or after 1 January 1993. Matches will take place from Tuesday 28th July to the finals on Saturday 1st August 2009.
U12 and U14 girls competitions which will take place on Saturday 1st August 2009
Senior 5 a side competitions which will take place on Saturday 1st August 2009

Located within 20 minutes drive time from all the major ports into Northern Ireland (both ports of Belfast and Larne and both the International and City Airports) and set on the scenic shores of Belfast Lough, historical Carrickfergus boasting one of the most well-preserved early medieval castles of the past 800 years, is the ideal location to visit Northern Ireland.Senior Elite CompetitionThe Senior Elite Competitions will consist of 8 teams. Closing dates for teams to enter will be Friday 28th May 2008. Matches will be played from Thursday 30th July with the winners entering the Championship Semi Finals and the losing teams entering the Plate semi finals which will take place on Friday 31st July. The Championship and Plate finals will then take place on 1st August. Along side this event there will be a Five-a-Side competition for ladies teams. Under 16 Girls Competition The girls event is structured with 4 groups of 3 teams. Each team will have the opportunity to play each other team once, with the winners entering the Elite Semi finals and the runners up entering the plate semi finals. All matches are 60 minutes in duration, all games being played between Tuesday 28th July - Thursday 30th July, with the semi finals taking place on Friday 31st July and the finals on Saturday 1st August.
In addition to the matches, Tuesday to Friday will all involve a residential coaching camp at the University of Ulster for all teams, with a licensed coach. Accommodation & Transport Accommodation starts from as little £50pppn at the University of Ulster Halls of residence and includes breakfast, lunch (to order) and evening sandwiches. Accommodation is also available at £40 per person per night for Bed & Breakfast at the Clarion Hotel.
Complimentary transport will take you to and from the airports / sea ports and to and from the training grounds. Direct flights are available from many airports within the UK to both Belfast International and Belfast City Airports both a mere 30 minute drive away from Carrickfergus. Ferry crossings are available from Stranraer, Cairnryan, Troon and Liverpool.
