Ebbsfleet ladies & Girls match report

London & South East Regional League Denham 3 - 2 Ebbsfleet United
Undefeated start sidelined by first away match of season..........

The 5 game winning start to the season came to an end for the Fleet Ladies on Sunday, but the ladies didnt give the points up without a fight as they narrowly lost out to Denham Ladies 3-2.

The game opened at a high tempo with both teams aware of the importance of the points up for stake, it was a fairly even display with chances created at both ends. It was Fleet that opened the scoring, as winger Kayleigh Weeding squeezed the ball home after an initial shot from Hayley Barton was deflected wide, unfortunately Denham struck back almost immediately as they capitalised on a set piece, scoring direct from a corner.

As the two teams matched each other on the park, the score swung back into Fleets favour as midfielder Jules Teague broke through onto a long ball, heading bravely home. Again Fleet allowed Denham straight back in as they once again scored following a corner.

The second half saw Fleet start the stronger of the two sides, pushing forward with attacking moves to clinch the 3 points, disappointingly they got caught out as a Denham Striker broke through to score and put her side 3-2 up. As much as the ladies tried to regain the deficit, they couldnt find the break through and were left reflecting on their first loss of the season's campaign.

Next week Fleet ladies take a break from league action, as they play Eastbourne in a qualifying round of the FA Cup, the game will be played at Fleet Leisure, 2.00 kick off.

Ladies Team - Faye Baker, Tamar Upton, Bex Pattenden, Emily Wells, Kelly Philpott, Hannah Gilmour, Lorraine Grinyer, Jules Teague, Kayleigh Weeding, Hayley Barton(Forster), Kelly Campbell (subs - Kaye Forster, Harriet Hills, Jodie Nixon)

Ebbsfleet United U13 Girls
Sunday 21st September 2008 - Vinters Park 3 v 4 Ebbsfleet United
First half; Ebbsfleet girls, sponsored by HS door systems Ltd, started well and were putting together some good attacking plays as Vinters Park were forced back into their half for the opening ten minutes, The girls hard work paid off as Fleet finally broke through the Vinters defence and Rhianna Aylwin scored her first goal for the club shooting past the goalkeeper giving her no chance. In another attacking move we forced Vinter Park into defensive error as they conceded a corner, after a goal mouth scramble it was Fleet girls who came out on top again as Annie Morrison also scored her first goal for the club. The remainder of the half was well balanced as both teams created good opportunities with neither team extending the scoreline, 2-0 to the Fleet at half time.

Second half; Ebbsfleet started well again still confident from their first half performance but it was not long before Vinters started to turn the game around and in a dominate spell that found the Fleet struggling to cope they scored three goals in quick succession taking them into a suprise lead. Although all was not lost as Ebbsfleet showed true grit and determination to force their way back into the game and level the score with Annie Morrison scoring her second of the game. It wasnt all over there as Fleet forced a corner in the dying moments of the game, Rhianna Aylwin took the corner and floated the ball in and with a wicked deflection in Fleets favour it somehow looped over the keepers head.

Ebbsfleet were delighted with the win 4 - 3, recording their first win of the season.
